Balancing Act 05/15/2011
“My altar is a quiet place off my bedroom. Because it’s east-facing, this room receives morning light, bringing with it the sunrise and the hope of each new day. I’ve balanced the room by incorporating elements of nature. A two-tiered dresser houses my altar. On the central lower level of the dresser, I’ve placed a marble vessel with water and a fresh flower and a candle. Higher up, a yin-yang wooden candleholder holds two candles, reminding me of life’s polarities and the power of choice, balance, and harmony. I light these candles to symbolically activate these principles in my daily life.” Teresa 1 Comment
Waking up the West Coast Healers & Visionaries “A home acts as a blueprint for the life we live, or indeed wish to live,” says feng shui expert Teresa Bockhold. “I help clients create an environment that supports every aspect and aspiration of their lives in a profound way.” Principles from ancient and contemporary cultures support the notion of an intimate relationship between the heart and mind and the place called home. “Thoughts create our reality,” says Bockhold, “so there is no better place to begin this process than at our own front door.” Crossing the threshold brings new opportunities to support or shift personal patterns and conditions. With her clients, Bockhold explains how their home and its contents reflect their innermost feelings and beliefs, limiting or increasing potential for success in all their endeavors. She makes recommendations for short- and long-term adjustments to their physical environment that will have the potential to create a more healthy, meaningful and abundant life. “It’s very rewarding to see the changes in my client’s lives once they make the mind/body/environment connection. People are instantly motivated to adjust their home or office space to support their personal transformations. Once they start to see results, the real fun begins!” To achieve the best home environment, Bockhold suggests many elements must be synthesized into a harmonious whole. As a fine artist, she recognizes that choosing room colours is an art in itself. Each colour resonates with distinct associations, physical and psychological, affecting mood and function. “Much of my work involves bringing the perfect colour palette to each space, inside and out,” she says. Designing space is a personal journey with universal implications. By making conscious and authentic choices, the spirit flows outward and returns in kind. This is the essence and power of feng shui, a philosophy that is over 3,000 years old, whose wisdom is available to everyone. | Teresa's BlogGain valuable insights into creating your sacred space.
